Early morning we met the guide on the way to the tree crossing the small river to finally leave (the French group also decided to go the same way with the help of their crew as they already missed their flight back to France - we met them later on in Leh again). We had to leave most of our luggage behind as this was too much to take. So we went uphill and climbed over some rocks until we finally reached the plateau and went down from there to the road. It was a long walk, we needed to pass a piece of flooded street and a little bit behind that there was a small pick up and we asked and they took us and as many others as possible to the next broken bridge. So we were lucky as we did not know how we could get to Leh 90km away when we started. When we left the pick up I wanted to tip the driver but he refused to take any money. We then crossed the first river on a makeshift bridge and then there was an Army truck taking the people (never saw so many people in one vehicle) taking us to the next broken bridge - then we needed to walk a piece, then next. In the end there was a long cue of army trucks facing us but no more organized transport in our direction and so we walked on direction Leh, already thinking we would need to walk all the rest there, but then a taxi took us and we arrived there late afternoon. We were both shocked as it looked like after a war. Fwe went to our agency to get them to know we're alive and discuss what to do next and went then to our hotel where we before. We also met the Franch group on the way also happy that they finally made it to Leh.
